gnuplot in Ubuntu 12.04 [installing]

This is my sharing experience of installing gnuplot in Ubuntu 12.04 precise pangolin.

Firstly, download gnuplot from this site, then do this following command

  • go to folder where gnuplot is downloaded (here in my case i go to user download directory)
    $ cd ~/Downloads
  • extract  gnuplot
    $ tar -xzvf gnuplot-4.6.0.tar.gz
  • go inside gnuplot folder
    $ cd gnuplot-4.6.0/
  • configure  gnuplot
    $ ./configure
  • Installing gnuplot
    $ sudo make install
  • Try to enter gnuplot console, if the terminal display like this following command line, your gnu plot is ready to use,
    $ gnuplot

The process can be difference, some computer migh be needed some dependencies, try this following script to install the dependencies  before doing installing process (sudo make install)

sudo apt-get install libwxgtk2.8-dev libpango1.0-dev libreadline5-dev libx11-dev libxt-dev texinfo libgd2-xpm-dev

$ sudo apt-get install libx11-dev libxt-dev libreadline-gplv2-dev glib-2.0
